Culturally-Informed Practice

Most psychotherapy methods were developed without consciously addressing minority experiences. Dr. Jen utilizes these methods, while modifying them wherever needed, in order to reflect the specific impact of minority experiences on emotions, relationships, and treatment. This includes addressing issues of oppression related to gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, and religion. Dr. Jen is especially trained and experienced with LGBTQ+ clients, including trans and other gender non-conforming clients, and she belongs to the LGBTQ+ community herself.


Evidence-Based Therapy

Evidence-based therapy, also known as evidence-based practice, is the idea that methods used in therapy are based on scientific evidence. Meaning that the methods and practices used by Dr. Jen are backed up by studies whose results show positive outcomes. Each client’s needs and goals are individualized using therapies that are tested and meet a high scientific standard.


Solution-Focused

Solution-focused therapy ensures that clients are meeting their specific needs and goals so that they can develop tools and strategies that allow them to live a life that is meaningful to them. Dr. Jen with clients, and if necessary, their parents or guardians to identify benchmarks that need to be met to ensure that clients continue to progress in their treatment.
